[What is this?

A South African dude, an artist and free thinker. What's new? I'm stable but fucked at the same time, I'm impulsive. I'll try any thing once, twice if I like it... and when I get excited, should I scream or have an orgasmn? This blog is my pure rant, getting the shit off my chest. It's really masturbation for my mind, take it or leave it!

Thurday's Laugh
March 30, 2006

A man escapes from a prison where he's been locked up for 15 years. He breaks into a house to look for money and guns. Inside, he finds a young couple in bed. He orders the guy out of bed and ties him to a chair. While tying the homeowner's wife to the bed, the convict gets on top of her, kisses her neck, then gets up and goes into the bathroom.

While he's in there, the husband whispers over to his wife:
"Listen, this guy is an escaped convict. Look at his clothes! He's probably spent a lot of time in jail and hasn't seen a woman in years.

I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex, don't resist, don't complain do whatever he tells you. Satisfy him no matter how much he nauseates you. This guy is obviously very dangerous. If he gets angry, he'll kill us both. Be strong, honey. I love you!"

His wife responds: "He wasn't kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me that he's gay, thinks you're cute, and asked if we had any Vaseline. I told him it was in the bathroom. Be strong honey. I love you.

Crack Cocaine of Gambling Part 1
March 24, 2006

LIFE AFTER PROHIBITION? EVALUATING THE IMPACT OF PENDING U.S. LEGISLATION : Part 1

After eight years of seemingly-endless legislative proposals, committee debates, and
defeats, news that United States lawmakers intended to propose yet another round of
prohibitionist legislation peaked little interest among industry leaders in early 2006. The
common refrain of the “Kyl Bill,” the “Leach Bill,” and the “Goodlatte Bill,” became little more than background noise in an environment of seemingly constant regulatory changes. However, in this author’s view, the online gambling industry has never been more vulnerable to adverse United States legislation than right now. Dueling bills in both the House and Senate seek to expand the scope of the Wire Act, to now specifically apply to online gambling businesses, and to games of chance other than sports betting.1 The bills also contain dangerous provisions requiring ISPs/hosts to block URLs identified as belonging to illegal online gambling websites, after receipt of notice from government officials. Still other provisions focus on prohibiting Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) relating to online wagers. In short, the United States Congress is attempting to give the Department of Justice a variety of tools necessary to clamp down on all manner of Internet gambling operations – even those located overseas. While United States criminal jurisdiction will not likely extend to foreign companies owned by foreign citizens, United States lawmakers have found another way to skin the cat; by cutting off the money sources, and by blocking electronic access to the sites at the source.

Crack Cocaine of Gambling Part 2

LIFE AFTER PROHIBITION? EVALUATING THE IMPACT OF PENDING U.S. LEGISLATION : PART 2

The average player is unlikely to sort through the legal nuances of the legislation that gets passed, and any implementing regulations. Therefore, even though these bills (in their current form) do not attempt to regulate player activity, players may become concerned about potential prosecution if they continue to place wagers online after passage of the legislation. This spin-off effect on United States player activity could be the most significant impact on Internet gamling businesses – yet it is one that is potentially avoidable or subject to significant mitigation by the industry. An educational effort must be immediately undertaken and funded by the industry’s leaders, trade groups, and media outlets. The moment a new federal online gambling law is passed, the industry must be ready with press releases, articles, speeches, blog postings, and any other form of communication necessary to communicate the precise impact of any pending legislation on United States player activity. If online betting is not prohibited by the new legislation, players must be immediately informed of that fact. Failure to do so will allow the rumor mill to generate significant misinformation, which plays directly into the hands of the
prohibitionists on Capitol Hill.

Gambling - About Gambling Online
March 15, 2006

The basics of gambling online

Introduction
If you have never gambled online you are probably bewildered by how to get started. Online gambling is still a very young industry and as such the test of time has yet to root out many of the less reputable casinos. The good and the bad are still fiercely elbowing each other for market share. Choose where to play carefully. You are probably also wondering if the games are fixed. The casinos don't need to cheat. However there have been complaints of extremely bad luck from playing at some non-licensed casinos that use no-name software. The vast majority of online casinos play fair. As you hop from one web site to another of the online casinos it may seem arbitrary about choosing one to play at. Quality counts. Take a close look at their web site or the free games. If they seem like a professional organization chances are better that they are. Finally if you get a bad feeling about a place then resist playing there.

History in the making
March 06, 2006

It was the first day of school and a new student named Chandrashekhar Subrahmanyam entered the fourth grade.

The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American History. Who said "Give me Liberty, or give me Death?". She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Chandrashekhar, who had his hand up: "Patrick Henry, 1775" he said.

"Very good!" Who said "Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?" Again, no response except from Chandrashekhar. "Abraham Lincoln, 1863" said Chandrashekhar.

The teacher snapped at the class, "Class, you should be ashamed. Chandrashekhar, who is new to our country, knows more about its history than you do." She heard a loud whisper: "Fuck the Indians," "Who said that?" she demanded. Chandrashekhar put his hand up. "General Custer, 1862!"

At that point, a student in the back said, "I'm gonna puke." The teacher glares around and asks "All right! Now, who said that?" Again, Chandrashekhar says, "George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991."

Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah? Suck this!" Chandrashekhar jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher, "Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!"

Now with almost a mob hysteria someone said "You little shit. If you say anything else, I'll kill you." Chandrashekhar frantically yells at the top of his voice, "Gary Condit to Chandra Levy, 2001." The teacher fainted. And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, "Oh shit, we're fucked!"

And Chandrashekhar said quietly, "George Bush, Iraq, 2005."

Texas Hold'em 101

Let's talk about history for a minute. Maybe you are one of those who are fascinated by the Best Game in the world and would love to know where it comes from.

Poker has actually been played for centuries. Poker as we know it comes from a French version called Poque. Texas Hold'em supposedly was first played in Texas, in Robstown, in the early 1900s. Texas Hold'em is undoubtedly the most popular form of poker, with players passionate about the game and its hype. The popularity of the game can be attributed to the televised broadcast of the World Series of Poker. This is also thanks to the invention of the pin-sized camera, which allows the viewer to see each of the players cards. Texas Hold'em is the best game to play in a tournament structure as it is dynamic, exciting and skillful. The game has gained celebrity status with the likes of Ben Affleck, Robin Williams and Nicole Kidman who are all said to be playing at the World Series of Poker 2005. It is the Texas Hold'em era, so claim your seat in history.

Playing the Hold'em - Betting and Limits

"Without Betting, poker would just be a game of luck", says Lou Krieger, author of Poker for Dummies. This is especially true for Texas Hold'em. The secret to the game is to minimize your losses when you are holding a bad hand, and maximize your winnings when you have a good hand.

Limits determine the level of betting action. There are four different types of Texas Hold'em limit games:

Texas Hold'em - Hand Rankings

Texas Hold'em is played with a 52 card deck. There are four suits, namely hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs, and all are of equal value in the game. Each suit has 13 ranks, meaning that there are 13 numbers (including J Q K A) in each suit. That said, the different hands are ranked according to their rarity. As in life, the rarer something is, the more valuable it is. So in order the hand rankings are:

Texas Hold'em - Player Types

Poker expert, Mike Caro, believes that you will make more money from your opponent's mistakes than you will from your own skill. So how do I do this you ask? You watch the other players, even when you are out of a hand. You watch for trends, for how they play when they have good hands, what hands they play etc. If you notice that a player likes playing Aces and you see an Ace come onto the flop, get out of he hand. Money saved will contribute to your profits too. Players have different styles or personalities. Players can usually be divided into four types:

Texas Hold'em - Starting Hands

We have already said that some starting hands should be played, and others shouldn't. Let's use the model that Sklansky has developed to help us know which hands are 'good'.

Sklansky's model is developed around eight groups of cards. All other cards should never be played. Group 1 is the strongest group, while a Group 8 hand should rarely be played.

Sklansky's model of starting hand groupings can be learnt as follows:

Texas Hold'em - Position is Power

Position is power in poker. That means that where you are sitting at the table makes a difference. This actually is logical, if you are playing your hand after you have seen what all the other players have done, it is to your advantage. In a ten-seater Texas Hold'em table, the first 5 positions to the left of the dealer (including the small and big blinds) are known as 'Early Positions'. The three positions after that are known as 'Middle Position', while the last two positions (including the dealer) are known as 'Late positions'. It therefore looks as though the dealer has the advantage, as he can see what everyone else does before he acts.

Texas Hold'em - Strategy

Knowledge is all good and well, but how are you going to apply your knowledge in a game? You need to have a game strategy. You need to take the knowledge you have gained, and will gain, and develop a solid strategy around this. Here are a few guidelines for you to use:

Texas Hold'em - Deception: Bluffing

Bluffing is when you bet/act as though you have cards. This means that its not only the cards in your hand that count, but the cards people think that you have. Lets take an example. Lets say the flop comes down with an Ace. If you bet like you have an Ace to make a high pair, its called bluffing. The trick is to know when to bluff. Most players bluff too often. A player should only bluff when it is impossible for another player to tell the difference.

Texas Hold'em - Deception: Slowplaying

Means deceiving the other players into thinking you have less of a hand then you do. Say you got dealt pockets cards KK. The flop comes K33. So you have already flopped a full house. You undoubtedly have the best hand at this point. If you play like you have the best hand, you will scare most of the other players into folding and your winnings therefore would be minimal. If you play by calling or checking as oppose to raising, the others will think you don't have much of a hand. They will be more likely to stay in the game to wait and see if the turn and river strengthen their hands. The point of slowplaying therefore is to extract the most money out of the players before taking the pot.
